What is AES 3.0?

With the EU project AES 3.0, an update of the trans-European Automated Export Service (AES), export and customs processes for trade are to be simplified. This change is set out in the European Union Customs Code (UCC). The innovations make it easier for European companies to export goods – for example, when it comes to centralized customs clearance. Secondly, the AES 3.0 update includes the obligation to better monitor exports from the EU customs territory in order to prevent fraud. These changes also reflect requirements set out in the UCC.

Important: From October 29, 2023, only software versions that refer to AES version 3.0 can be used! From this date, EU support for any software that processes customs declarations using the older AES version will end.
